Floating Points - Cascade - LP

Cascade pushes Floating Points' sound forward into new places. The eight songs here are allowed to smolder and spark for up to eight minutes at a time, allowing for a more expansive exploration of sounds and grooves than ever before. Almost a decade on since Elaenia, his revered debut album, the composer has discovered new ways to thread his experiments outside of club music seamlessly into his music designed for the dancefloor.

In 2023, 15k people witnessed Shepherd perform his Mercury Prize-nominated masterpiece Promises at the Hollywood Bowl. Shepherd assembled an all-star cast of players that included Shabaka Hutchings, Kieran Hebden (Four Tet), Dan Snaith (Caribou), Kara Lis Coverdale and Hinako Omori, with Miguel Atwood Ferguson conducting.

Shepherd also composed his first ballet for symphony orchestra and electronics, Mere Mortals, which was performed by the San Francisco Ballet in collaboration with artistic director Tamara Tojo and choreographer Aszure Barton and Hamill Industries. The shows were critically acclaimed with rave reviews from The Guardian, Forbes, and more.
